everwave detects, collects & recycles garbage to close the waste loop. Innovative garbage boats & river platforms, collect tons of trash from all over the world. These are equipped with Sensors, connected to AI, that detect and analyze the waste.
A global problem: Up to 11 million tons of waste end up in our oceans every year - mainly transported by rivers. everwave's solution: to take responsibility together with companies. This is done through the concept of Plastic Credits, a way of waste compensation inspired by the concept of CO2 offsetting. Simply put, for every euro a company pays, one kilo of waste is removed from the environment and returned to the cycle. Customers of everwave so far include Mastercard, Grohe and Audi Environmental Foundation. To close the loop everwave uses innovative cleanup technologies (stationary river platforms & actively operating garbage boats) to rid rivers worldwide of trash. Compared to the market, the low-budget cleanup technologies are affordable and, most importantly, they are flexible and can be adapted to the needs of the polluted sites. In addition, everwave takes care of the environmentally friendly recycling of the collected material and builds up long-term infrastructures for waste recycling at the sites of operation. So far the company worked with it's technologies in countries like Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Slovakia, Italy or Cambodia.
everwave digitalizes material flows: In cooperation with the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence the Cleanup technologies are and will in future be equipped with drones and sensors that collect valuable data. This data is directy send into the boat driver's cabin and the team directly knows what it is collecting. The data is then analyzed with the help of a trained AI by the DFKI: this results in valuable conclusions about the composition of the waste and also the polluters. An example: the AI scans how much plastic, metal, glass or polystyrene has been collected. This data can then be given to the recycling centre and it knows directly what and how to sort. It also helps to find out where the waste comes from. A case in point: If countless coffee cups are scanned by the AI, everwave can involve politicians and the catering industry on site for a long-term solution.
everwave's approach is holistic. It's not just about collecting waste, it's thinking ahead & collecting data. With the four pillars "Recognize, Collect, Recycle, Educate", the startup closes the waste loop and solves a global problem. It gives companies the opportunity to take responsibility and with their financial contribution, environmental change can be realized. With the connection of AI and waste, knew insights are gathered, that will help the whole maritime sector on a long-term sight.
